Acknowledgements

In June of 2007 Marist College received a $140,000 grant from the National Archives and Record Administration's Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) to support a two-year project to preserve the College's Lowell Thomas Papers. The James A. Cannavino Library's Archives and Special Collections completed the Lowell Thomas Project and the Lowell Thomas Papers is now available to researchers for the first time in its entirety. The collection contains over 1,200 linear feet of materials documenting the life, career, and travels of Lowell Thomas as he became one of America's most prominent newsmen. Included in the collection are approximately 36,000 photographs, hundreds of hours of audio, thousands of feet of motion picture film, numerous artifacts and over one million pages of manuscript materials.
